How to Export Citations from OVID Databases
to Bibliographic Management Programs

Step 1

create a search

Step 2

see search hits

Step 3

go to the "Results Manager"

Step 4

make selections in the "Results Manager" table

Step 5

export citations - using "Direct Export"

save/rerun Searches

Step 1 - create a search in one of the OVID databases (see  instructions, if necessary)

Step 2 - click on the last "Display" button on right hand column below to see search hits

Step 3 - click on "Results Manager" to take you down to the Citation Manager table, at bottom of the page

Step 4 - Make selections in the Citation Manager table as appropriate.  Select "Direct Export"
as the Citation Format.  Click "
Save" in the Action column.

 

 

Step 5 - If you have bibliographic management software such as EndNote on your computer, the program will open automatically.  Then select one of your EndNote "Library" files to receive the citations.

This is just a tutorial,
not a realtime search.

Step 6 - Save/Rerun Searches

OVID has a "save search/Alert" feature that users can use to save created searches.  Rerun saved searches whenever needed by clicking on the "Saved Seearches/Alerts" button on the blue banner.
