        o Example: thesis and CE and Bullock
    - Included in e-Pubs
        o Choose the Dissertations tab

  From other schools
    - Dissertations and Theses (PQDT) database
        o Can be searched by author, school, year and advisor
        o Full-text available for download from all CIC schools

 

Copyright – use of images and figures found online
    Guidelines:
    - Typical academic use will fall with in “fair use” guidelines
    - There are 4 things to consider with fair use designations
        o Purpose and character of use
        o Nature of the work used
        o How much of the work
        o Effects on the market for the original work

Tracing citations – both backward in time (references) and forward (citations)
- backward – lists the references included at the end of each article
o these are always older than the publication they are associated with
- forward – citations to a work which have occurred since it was published
o these are always newer than the publication

Finding the highest impact publications in your field (broadly defined)
Available in the Databases list – be sure to choose the science edition
- Select group by subject category
- Find Engineering, Civil in the list
- Sort by Impact Factor
