Quick Guide for Exporting Citations

• Open the bibliographic management software (e.g. EndNote) on your computer.  For demonstration purpose, EndNote samples will be used in this page.

• Open an existing EndNote Library " (or create a new one).  EndNote library filename has " .enl" as an extension  (e.g. filename.enl).  If you want to find the .enl library easily, create it within your EndNote program folder.  (Otherwise, navigate to your .enl library directory)

• Select an online database listed below, open the database from the Purdue Databases page, and perform a search.

• Select records you want to keep for exporting to your EndNote Library by checking on the boxes next to the citations.  Sometimes it is called "marking" or "adding" records.

• Follow instructions for citation exporting provided in pages linked to the names of information providers below.  The utility icons reproduced in the pages are meant as a step by step guide -- look for similar icons on your search screens.  Click on them to activate citation exporting.

EndNote also uses Connection Files and Filters
